Vernon Projekt – Marion Ritzmann – Compose Reality

Marion Ritzmann
Marion Ritzmann (1978, Schaffhausen, Switzerland) lives and works in Basel and Berlin. She visited the Preliminary course at F+F School for Art and Media Design Zurich from 2001 till 2002, afterwards she studied at the Academy of Design and Art, section fine art and new media art, in Basel. Since 2005 she exhibited in Switzerland, Germany, France and Czech Republic. In 2010 she received the 6 month residency grant for Berlin. Marion Ritzmann´s work primarily focuses on installation and performance-art. Her universe of ideas is generated through inputs and impulses of everyday observations of her surroundings. The perceived fragments are collected in an archive of imagery by means of notes and drawings. One central interest of hers is the shifting of perception and therefore the irritation of the viewer or audience.

COMPOSE REALITY
Compose Reality is an installation which consists of several slide projectors and
mirrorobjects through which the light is projected. The projections are being interrupted by the mirrorobjects and are projected again in another form. A pattern in the imagery is
recognisable, but by means of the different color ambiences and subjects of the slides it is changing time and again. The slide projections run in a continuous loop but in different time-intervals. The selected slides consist of images of Praha today and ten years ago, which were found by the friend of artist. The various image materials of the footage serve to help to put a time component into the installation as well as to write a new fictitious story.Compose Reality is questioning perception in its variety, depending on the point of view and the subject, newly combined and composed.
